Ahh, the warm welcoming aroma of fresh baked cinnamon rolls. Is there really anything better? Can anyone turn down those golden, sticky, mouth watering, warm, gooey rolls of pure love? Such a welcoming smell, they instantly transform your house to grandma’s kitchen and you right back to a treasured moment in your child hood.
Is this recipe “healthy”? No. Is it fat free? Nu-uh. Is it sugar free? Nope. Is it gluten free? Pfffffttt-cha, um, big fat NOT! But it should definitely be in everyone’s recipe book. Should you eat one every day? Well, probably not. But life is really about enjoyment isn’t it? And I’ll tell you what, these cinnamon rolls put a big fat smile on everyone’s face. I haven’t met one person who could pass on these little bombs of delicious-ness.
They are my go-to, sweet treat for overnight guests. Maybe I owned a Bed & Breakfast in a past life, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE making breakfast for company. Usually I end up making more than any person, or group of people, could possibly eat in one sitting. But that just means that everyone gets a little carry out box for the road. Ya’ll come back now, ya-hear? If you find this recipe intimidating, I promise, it’s not hard. The dough requires no kneading. But it does require a little muscle to get the flour incorporated into the wet ingredients. If you happen to have a stand mixer, it probably came with a dough hook and this is the perfect time to pull it out and dust that puppy off.
Patience is the name of the game when it comes to any recipe requiring yeast. Waiting for those little miracle making microbes to do their job is hard. But by-golly, someone’s got to do it! And you will be well rewarded for your patience and hard work. In fact, you might not want to share, when all is said and done. But resist the temptation to hoard these luscious goodies. Think of your waist line. Plus, calories shared with friends don’t count, right? Right. So enjoy these hunger busting, morsels of love with friends, family, neighbors, distant cousins and complete strangers. Everyone will be forever grateful that you did!
