I was in my sewing room this morning and listening to the birds outside, when I noticed some of the chirps sounded like they were coming from the deck right outside. So I went out onto the deck, and looked around. I was surprised to see that we had a bird family making a nest in the side of our house!
I’m not sure what kind of bird they are. I did some internet research and I think they are either a sparrow, or maybe a finch… If anyone can identify them, please let me know!
Of course, I’m not sure Tommy is going to be thrilled that we have a new tenant living in the side of our house. We actually had a bird house hanging on the old deck before we did the remodel, and we haven’t put it back up. Perhaps that was a mistake on our part.
They are very cute. They didn’t like me standing on the deck waiting for them to come back so I could get pictures of them. Very shy birds apparently. I can’t tell if the babies have hatched already or if they are just eggs in the nest. Since the nest is at the peak of the roof, I wasn’t about to climb up there to find out!
Hopefully they will raise their babies quickly so Tommy can get that hole blocked off and we won’t have any other critters climbing in there. We had bats in the siding for a while, but I think they’ve moved on.
Thanks for looking!
